I have a friend who is studying in biotechnology in my university. Lets call her K-san. K is 19 years old nd she is a girl. She is staying at Bukit Mertajam. She is pretty and interesting in a sense. Besides, her command in English is superb. She writes article for The Star newspaper.

I really adore and admire talented people. K is very good in playing violin. She is a violin sensei who teaches some small kids in her neighbourhood. Besides, she is independent and brave, one of a kind. Her mother saved her a bunch of money for her to study abroad. Yet when she was 17, straight after SPM, she spent all the money in a business. She started a restaurant, a seafood restaurant. Guess what, the restaurant has evolved from a single storey to a 3 storey restaurant. The business of the restaurant is fantastically good.

私は中等学校のあと、私の友達と四人で、レストランをはじめたいと思っていました。でも、私たちは勇気がありませんでした。
As for me, straight after SPM, I have an idea to start a restaurant as well with 3 of my best friends. We wanted to start a cafe which operates only at night to cater the needs of the youngsters around our neighbourhood area because a lot of young people do go out at night and it is hard for them to find a great spot to hang-out(at that time). The opportunity was there, sadly to say, we were gutless, only if we were brave enough to seize the opportunity. We were just not daring and mature enough to do so at that moment.

だから、私はKさんがうらやましいです。Kさんは私の唯一あこがある人です。
That's the reason why I deeply admire and envy her, envy a girl who is younger than me yet she knows where her life is heading and as for me, I am still floating in the wide, island-less ocean, heading nowhere. K is the only person I truly admire for now.

Japanese culture..

Japan is part of Asia but they do not resemble anything near most of the countries in Asia. Their thoughts, culture, beliefs and cuisines shape their own unique identity and that makes them different. To me, Japanese is vain and they desire to be pretty.

I have a few arguements in hand.
  1. Beauty Products Invention. Japan is one of the most innovative countries where they have lots of crazy and wild ideas basically about everything, for instance, air sex competition (sex without a partner, the male acts as if the woman is there). When it comes to beauty products, the demands are never disappointing even in this economy slowdown. It is because most of the Japanese regardless gender put beauty as their top priority. Most girls will not face the world without their make-up on, in fact, this applies on some guys as well. They will work their ass off to buy expensive luxurious beauty products to be looking good. That's the reason companies like Noevir never go under eventhough they sell expansive beauty products in this economy crisis. Their latest facial cream costs 100,000 yen for only 50 grams, which is more than RM3,000. Can you imagine that??
  2. Bikinis. The Japanese girls enjoy wearing bikinis whenever they go swimming or a visit to the beach regardless of how good or BAD they look in it. From a Japanese friend of mine, it is a norm for girls to wear bikini. In Malaysia, the bikini industry is still growing but in Japan, it is at the maturity stage. Only if our culture is same as theirs. Sigh~~
  3. Plastic surgery. To be fair, who doesn't want to be looking good in front of others!? Will anyone ever complain and get sick of the compliments he/she receive about how good-looking and gorgeous they are!? Who wants to be the thorn among the roses!? Literally speaking, everyone cares about how they look like in front of the public. But the extent of making yourself to look good is different for the Japanese. Can you imagine, Japan owns more plastic surgery firms than Korea. Yet, a lot of Japanese flew to Korea for plastic surgery because the price is 50% cheaper than in Japan. To me, it seems like Japanese are willing to do anything to 'beautifulize' themselves.

If you do not agree with me, feel free to bombard me with uncountable comments.
